Antarctic Ice Ultra

This unique event presents a formidable challenge to the most adventurous runners, with underfoot conditions of snow and ice, average windchill temperatures of -20°C / -4°F, and the potential for fierce katabatic winds. Set against the stunning backdrop of Antarctica at an altitude of 600 meters, this event tests more than endurance; it's a battle against the elements in the heart of this icy expanse.

The Antarctic Ice Ultra™ is the ultimate polar footrace, organized by the Runbuk team, who also bring you the Antarctic Ice Marathon®, the North Pole Marathon®, the Volcano Marathon®, and the World Marathon Challenge® (7 Marathons 7 Continents 7 Days™).

On November 6th, 2024, competitors will board a special jet in Cape Town, South Africa, bound for Novolazarevskaya (Novo), Antarctica. A marked course will be prepared in advance, with snowmobile support, aid stations, and medical personnel present throughout the event. After the race, runners are scheduled to return to Cape Town on November 8th.

The Antarctic Ice Ultra offers an unparalleled opportunity to conquer an ultra marathon amidst the severe beauty of the white continent. Completing this race also qualifies you to join the 7 Continents Marathon Club. While personal bests are unlikely, this is a race of self-reliance and fortitude amidst the majestic, silent wilderness of Antarctica.
